Lebanon’s Hezbollah makes strong statement in response to government’s decision to disarm resistance

In a fiery statement, Lebanese Hezbollah strongly condemned the decision of the government of Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to disarm the resistance, calling it a major mistake that was made under pressure from “American envoys” and in order to serve the interests of the Zionist regime.

The statement, issued on Wednesday (6th of August), emphasizes that this decision contradicts the government’s ministerial statement and leaves Lebanon without deterrents and completely vulnerable to the Israeli enemy.

Hezbollah announced that the government’s decision, which was approved at a cabinet meeting in Baabda Palace and required the Lebanese army to develop a plan to monopolize weapons by the end of August 2025, was the result of foreign pressure, especially from the United States.

Referring to statements by US Special Envoy Tom Barak, the movement described this action as part of a plan to weaken the axis of resistance and impose a foreign will on Lebanon.

In response to this decision, ministers affiliated with Hezbollah and the Amal Movement left the cabinet meeting in protest.
