France recognizes Palestine at UN General Assembly, angering Israeli officials

According to international media reports, French President Emmanuel Macron announced on the social network X that France will officially recognize an independent Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly meeting in September 2025.

Emphasizing France’s commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, Macron called for the disarmament of the Hamas movement, stating that this decision was made following the commitments made by the head of the Palestinian Authority.

He had previously announced in the spring of 1404 that this action would be possible in June 2025.

The decision was announced as the Israeli parliament passed a plan to impose sovereignty over the West Bank, and Macron’s announcement angered Israeli officials.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the move a “reward for terrorism” and “a platform for the destruction of Israel.”

Netanyahu’s cabinet ministers, including Gideon Sa’ar, Israel Katz, Itamar Ben-Governor, and Bezalel Smotrich, also strongly condemned the decision
