Lockheed Martin successfully tests new CMMT cruise missiles
The American company Lockheed Martin has successfully tested two new versions of its low-cost missile system, Common Multi-Mission Truck (CMMT).
These cruise missiles, which can be launched from cargo planes such as the C-130 and C-17, and even helicopters, could revolutionize future military strategies.
This modular platform, with its cost-effective design and the ability to use non-specialized platforms, is capable of carrying out long-range, high-precision attacks without the need for advanced combat aircraft.
Recent tests included the launch of the unpowered version (CMMT-D) from a Rapid Dragon pallet simulating a drop from a cargo plane, and the powered version (CMMT-X) from a civilian aircraft, demonstrating the ability to fly autonomously.
This development could increase the offensive capabilities of the US military at a much lower cost.
