Dozens of PTI members arrested in Lahore on charges of illegal assembly

Pakistani police arrested dozens of supporters of the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, on Sunday, July 13 on charges of holding an illegal rally.

This action was taken after a convoy of vehicles carrying senior members of the party, led by Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arrived in Lahore from Islamabad.

Police forces had warned the leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party to refrain from holding any protest gatherings.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a staunch opponent of the current Pakistani government, is facing increasing pressure, with many of its supporters and members in prison.

These arrests come as the party has begun planning a nationwide protest movement until August 5th with the aim of freeing party founder Imran Khan.
