UN investigates killing of Palestinians near aid distribution site in Gaza

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has formally called for an independent investigation into reports of Palestinians being shot and killed near an aid distribution site in southern Gaza on Sunday.

This request comes amid reports of Israeli forces opening fire on Palestinians who had come to receive food and essential items.

Witnesses say they were shot at while they were in line to receive supplies in Rafah, southern Gaza; this is the same center that Israel and the United States set up a few days ago, and under the name of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, GHF is trying to replace the United Nations and international aid foundations in Gaza.

The Red Cross says its clinic in Gaza received 179 emergency casualties yesterday, of whom 21 died
