Spain hosts meeting of European and Arab countries calling for boycott of Israel

Spain, hosting representatives of European and Arab countries, has stepped up efforts to end the Gaza war and called on the international community to consider imposing sanctions on Israel to stop the war.

The meeting was held in Madrid on Sunday, May 25, and its goal is to end the Israeli military operation in Gaza and facilitate humanitarian aid to the region.

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez told reporters before the meeting began: “Silent in the face of what is happening in Gaza means complicity in this massacre.”

He emphasized that Israel’s war in Gaza is inhumane and meaningless, and that humanitarian aid should be allowed into Gaza “on a large scale, without conditions, restrictions, and without Israeli control.”

Representatives from France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Morocco, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as countries such as Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Slovenia, and Brazil were present at the meeting.
