The US Treasury Department announced that, in accordance with an executive order, President Donald Trump has issued general and immediate authorization to ease some sanctions against Syria.
On the other hand, the US State Department says that it considers the country’s decision to ease some sanctions against Syria effective for the progress of the interim government of Golani.
The US Secretary of State stated: “We issued sanctions waivers for Syria under the Caesar Act to increase investment in the country.”
According to the ministry, lifting sanctions on Syria will facilitate basic services and reconstruction in the country.
The US State Department also stated in its statement that today’s actions regarding Syria are considered the first step in advancing relations between the two countries, and we expect that after the sanctions against Syria are eased, Damascus will take steps on the important political priorities of joining the Abraham Accords, normalizing relations with the Israeli regime, expelling the commanders of Palestinian groups close to the former Syrian government and based in Damascus, and combating ISIS.
