Putin:we are ready to agree on a memorandum of understanding
Before Trump’s statement on social networks, Russian President Vladimir Putin also announced that a ceasefire is possible if appropriate agreements are reached, but he did not explain the details of these agreements.
He said that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov or Vladimir Ushakov, head of Moscow’s negotiating team, would announce more details later.
In a quote published by the state-run Tass news agency, Putin stated: Enter into negotiations with the Ukrainian side on preparing a memorandum of understanding on a possible peace agreement; A memorandum in which issues such as the general principles of the solution, the timetable for reaching a peace agreement and other details will be specified.
Russia has previously emphasized the need to address what the Kremlin calls “the main roots of the war,” including Ukraine’s desire to join the European Union and NATO.
From Moscow’s point of view, these cases also include the violation of NATO’s commitments not to spread to the east the Ukrainian government’s discrimination against Russian speakers and what Putin calls the de-Nazification of Ukraine.
