Canada and Mexico reacted after Trump ordered to impose tariffs

Hours after US President Donald Trump ordered the imposition of 25% tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, the two neighboring countries of the US have announced plans to retaliate.

In response to Trump’s 25% tariff on imported goods, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the Canadian government will also impose a 25% tariff on American goods.

Speaking at a press conference, he added that in the first step, 25% tariffs will be applied to 30 billion dollars of imported goods from the United States, and then these tariffs will be extended to 125 billion dollars of imports from the United States.

At the same time, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that her country will take retaliatory measures.

He wrote on X social network: “I ordered the Minister of Economy to implement the plan we have been working on; This plan includes tariffs and other measures in defense of Mexico’s interests.
