“UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres emphasized his support for the smooth transition of power in Syria this morning, Thursday 12th of December.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to South Africa, Guterres said that the United Nations is fully committed to the smooth transition of power in Syria through a comprehensive political process and respecting the rights of minorities.
He explained to the UN news agency that we are witnessing the transformation of the Middle East region with changes in the balance of power between the main players in the region.
The Secretary General of the United Nations, pointing out that “No”, his special envoy in Syria, Pedersen, is working with all the main actors to determine the future path of Syria, and stated, “I have full confidence in the Syrian people in choosing their own destiny
