Russia, one of the rightful members of the UN Security Council, asked this council to hold an emergency meeting today (Monday, 9th of December).
Dmitry Polisansky, the first deputy of Russia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, wrote this news in Telegram and said that he expects this meeting to be held on Monday.
Meanwhile, AFP quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the Security Council meeting will probably be held on Monday.
In his writing, Polyanski is unclear about the depth and consequences of the fall of Bashar al-Assad for Russia and the rest of the Middle East.
He specifically wrote about the importance of discussing Israel’s borders with Syria in the Golan Heights and emphasized the possible consequences of Israel temporarily taking control of these areas from UN peacekeepers.
