The moral scandal in the church caused the resignation of the archbishop of England
The Archbishop of England was forced to resign due to a series of moral scandals in the Church of this country.
“I failed to ensure an independent and clear investigation into the sexual abuse of a volunteer at a Christian summer camp decades ago,” Justin W. Labby, the Church of England’s most senior clergyman, said in announcing his resignation.
I must accept personal and institutional responsibility for failing to act on egregious abuses. The past few days have renewed my long-standing and profound sense of shame at the historic failures to protect the Church of England.
I hope this decision makes clear how much the Church of England understands the need for change and our deep commitment to creating a safer church.
