Guterres: the recent events in Beirut and Tehran are threatening
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called the recent airstrikes in northern Beirut and the assassination of Ismail Hania, the head of Hamas’s political office in Tehran, a threat.
In a newsletter, the UN quoted Mr. Guterres as saying that all efforts should now be focused on the ceasefire in Gaza, the release of Israeli hostages and humanitarian aid for the residents of Gaza.
Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of Hamas, was assassinated in a missile attack on his residence in Tehran yesterday, Wednesday, 31th of July.
Meanwhile, some American media have reported that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Iranian Revolution, has ordered a direct attack on Israel.
The New York Times, citing three Iranian officials, wrote that Ali Khamenei ordered Israel to be directly targeted in retaliation for Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination.
