Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said that Spain officially recognizes the state of Palestine, and considered this action a historic step and a legitimate right of the Palestinian people.
He added that the recognition of Palestine allows Palestinians and Israelis to achieve a two-state solution and peace.
Spain joins more than 140 countries that recognize Palestine as an independent country.
Sanchez said: We want a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the arrival of humanitarian aid and the release of prisoners.
