Kakas:The European Union is set to introduce its largest ever list of sanctions against Russia this fall

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaya Kalas, has said that the bloc will propose its largest list of sanctions against Russia since the start of the Ukraine war this fall.

According to Kalas, if this proposal is approved, the number of restrictions against Russia will increase by about 33%.

On July 23, the European Union adopted its 21st package of sanctions, which includes financial restrictions on a number of Russian banks, measures against what it calls Russia’s “shadow fleet,” and an extension of the country’s oil price ceiling.

Russian officials have repeatedly said that the country’s economy is capable of withstanding Western sanctions, while some Western officials and experts have also expressed doubts about the effectiveness of the sanctions.
