15 killed in gunmen attack on security checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

At least 15 people, including seven policemen and eight gunmen, were killed after gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.

According to Pakistani media reports, Hangu Police Chief Tariq Habib said that 22 other police officers were injured in the incident and that security forces have launched a clean-up operation in the area. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack came a few days after a similar incident in Tank district, where 15 people were killed in an attack on a security checkpoint.

The Pakistani army also announced that it had killed 12 gunmen in the retaliatory operation.
