Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would only use nuclear weapons if its existence was threatened.
Stating that the European Union has become an economic and military bloc, he said that European countries still think they can defeat Russia strategically, calling this the biggest mistake in history.
Peskov also stated that the Ukrainian conflict has now escalated into a full-scale war, claiming that Ukraine and its Western backers have forced Russia to create a buffer zone on the borders.
The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that an end to the war can be achieved with a responsible decision by Volodymyr Zelensky, adding that Moscow welcomes Donald Trump’s willingness to talk despite differences of opinion.
