Donald Trump announced that the US government had considered the option of transferring or removing Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles, but the plan was not implemented due to operational difficulties and the need for a long-term presence of troops in the region.
Trump said that moving these materials would require the presence of troops in conflict areas for one to two weeks, and for this reason, it was abandoned.
Referring to the complexity of the situation, the US President stated that Iran is not comparable to some past US operations and that carrying out such a mission could have been accompanied by serious challenges.
He also compared this to the failed operation to free American hostages in Iran in 1980, known as Operation Eagle Claw.
