Iranian official: There has been an agreement on the general issues of the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon
In response to Donald Trump’s recent statements, an Iranian source announced that Tehran has not yet finally approved the possible memorandum of understanding and that disputes over several files continue.
The Iranian official said that the negotiations have been faced with a contradictory and changing approach from the United States, and this is considered the biggest obstacle to reaching an agreement.
According to this source, no discussions have been held so far about the details of the nuclear file, and Trump’s statements about transferring or removing enriched uranium are considered his personal views and wishes.
The Iranian official also emphasized that an understanding has been reached on the general issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon, but Trump’s perceptions and statements about the Strait of Hormuz are his personal interpretation of the negotiation process.
He concluded by stating that the material published by Trump was only a selective reflection of some of the clauses of the possible agreement and that important differences still persist between the two sides.
