Pentagon orders 5,000 US troops to leave Germany
The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, has announced that the process of withdrawing approximately 5,000 US troops from Germany will begin.
According to Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, in an interview with Al-Mayadeen Network, this order was issued by US Secretary of War Pete Heggest and is scheduled to be implemented within the next 6 to 12 months.
American officials have stated that the purpose of this decision is to comprehensively review the way the country’s forces are deployed in Europe and respond to operational needs.
The move comes as differences between Donald Trump and European allies over how to handle the war against Iran have increased, heightening concerns about a rift in transatlantic relations.
