Dozens of protesters arrested in Istanbul during May Day demonstrations
Turkish police used tear gas and arrested dozens of protesters during a May Day demonstration in Istanbul on Friday, according to AFP.
According to the CHD Lawyers Association, nearly 200 people have been arrested in Istanbul and riot police have used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Reports add that the protesters planned to march to Taksim Square, but the square was closed by the police.
The released images show security forces taking action to disperse the crowd in various areas of Istanbul, including Besiktas and Mecidiyeköy.
A number of political activists and members of labor parties also participated in these protests and chanted slogans against the government.
