SDF and Syrian government agree to complete ceasefire and integration of SDF forces into government institutions
The Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reached an agreement yesterday, Tuesday, 26 February 2021 (Tuesday), to halt military operations on all front lines and begin the process of integrating SDF forces into government institutions.
The agreement, which was reached after lengthy negotiations between the parties, includes a complete ceasefire in all areas under the control of the SDF in northeastern Syria, as well as the start of practical steps to integrate the SDF’s military and security forces into the official structures of the Syrian government.
This understanding could be a turning point in reducing internal tensions in Syria after recent political developments and pave the way for greater stability in the northeastern regions of the country.
