Herat saffron wins the International Taste Institute’s Best Taste Award for the tenth time
The International Taste Institute has named Herat Saffron, Afghanistan, as the winner of the Superior Taste Award for the tenth consecutive time in its 2026 evaluation results.
This honor once again highlighted Afghanistan’s distinguished position among the world’s top producers of quality products.
This award is given based on precise sensory criteria for the quality of the product’s aroma and color, and reflects the superiority of Herat saffron in global markets.
Saffron has emerged in recent years as a successful alternative to poppy cultivation, and thousands of families, especially in Herat Province, earn a living through its production and export.
Previously, the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that in the first six months of this year, more than 22 tons of saffron worth about $30 million and 35 thousand were exported to global markets.
