Trump’s executive order begins the process of designating Muslim Brotherhood branches in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon as terrorists

US President Donald Trump issued a new executive order to begin the official process of declaring the Muslim Brotherhood branches in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon as terrorist organizations, a move that has been described in regional political circles as a “major earthquake” against Sunni political Islam movements.

Sources close to the White House see this decision as a continuation of the US and Israeli policy after October 7, 2023, to eliminate any national political movement with the potential to challenge the interests of Washington and Tel Aviv, even if these movements lack armed activity.

According to observers, Operation Storm al-Aqsa has strengthened the revolutionary spectrum within the Muslim Brotherhood. Its signs include the discovery of secret Brotherhood cells in Jordan that were planning operations without coordination with the central leadership, as well as the cooperation of the Lebanese Islamic Group (Lebanese branch of the Brotherhood) with Hamas and Hezbollah in the Lebanese support front for Gaza.
