First group of released Palestinian prisoners arrive in Gaza and Ramallah
Moments ago, the first national bus out of a total of 38 buses carrying Palestinian prisoners released from Israeli prisons entered the Gaza Strip.
This group is part of the Palestinian prisoners who were released as part of the prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas.
At the same time, images have been released of another group of released Palestinian prisoners entering the city of Ramallah in the West Bank.
The exchange, brokered by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, involves the release of about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 20 live Israeli prisoners, and was implemented as part of a ceasefire agreement to end the 15-month conflict in Gaza.
The arrival of these prisoners was met with a widespread welcome from the people in Gaza and Ramallah, and scenes of joy and public gatherings were reported in these areas.
