Following US President Donald Trump’s call for an immediate halt to attacks on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army command has ordered a halt to the offensive advance in Gaza City.
According to Israel Army Radio and Kan Network, the country’s political leaders have asked the army to reduce military operations to a minimum and focus on implementing the first phase of Trump’s peace plan.
This decision was made after Hamas responded positively to Trump’s 20-point plan, which includes the exchange of Israeli prisoners for Palestinian prisoners and an immediate ceasefire.
“Israel must immediately stop bombing Gaza so that the prisoners can be safely released,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s office also announced that Israel is ready to immediately implement the first phase of the plan to release prisoners, although the details of the withdrawal of forces and the disarmament of Hamas require further negotiations.
