Kim Jong-un’s condition for talks with the US is to drop the demand for denuclearization
In his speech to the country’s Supreme People’s Assembly on Sunday (September 21), the North Korean leader expressed fond memories of US President Donald Trump and said that if Washington puts aside its absurd sensitivity towards North Korean denuclearization and accepts reality, there is no reason not to negotiate.
He emphasized that nuclear weapons are a matter of survival for North Korea and that the country is forced to develop them in the face of threats from the United States and South Korea.
Kim called recent proposals from Washington and Seoul “disingenuous” and said their fundamental goal was to weaken and destroy the Pyongyang regime.
Trump and Kim met three times during Trump’s first term, but talks over denuclearization stalled.
