Ukrainian drone attack on Bashneft oil refinery in Ufa a deep blow to the heart of the Russian oil industry

Ukrainian drones attacked Bashneft’s Novoil oil refinery in the city of Ufa, the capital of the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, on Saturday, September 13.

The refinery, which is one of Russia’s largest oil facilities and processes more than 7.4 million tons of crude oil per year, equivalent to 148,000 barrels per day, is located about 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and this attack is considered one of the longest-range drone operations by Kiev in the current war.

According to Russian officials, the drone attack caused a fire at the refinery, but the fire was quickly contained and the damage was described as minor.

Radiy Khabirov, the governor of Bashkortostan, announced on his Telegram channel that a Ukrainian drone hit the facility and caused a fire, but that a second drone was shot down by air defenses.

He emphasized that production at the refinery will continue without interruption and no casualties have been reported.
