Wall Street Journal:US bans Ukraine from using long-range missiles against Russia
The Wall Street Journal, citing American sources, revealed in a report that the Pentagon has been secretly preventing Ukraine from using long-range ATACMS missiles to attack Russian territory for the past few months.
This action is in line with Washington’s efforts to control the scope of the war and prevent its spread.
Despite the White House’s approval of the sale of 3,350 long-range missiles to Ukraine, the Pentagon has adopted a secret policy for issuing attack authorizations since late spring, effectively preventing Kiev from using American weapons against targets on Russian soil.
Ukrainian sources planned to use ATACMS missiles to attack a target on Russian soil, but the move was halted by direct US opposition in at least one case, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Two independent sources confirmed this to the Wall Street Journal.
These restrictions reflect America’s caution in escalating tensions with Russia.
