Trump, Xi Jinping promise not to attack Taiwan as long as I am president
US President Donald Trump announced in an interview with Fox News that Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him that China would not attack Taiwan as long as he was in the White House.
Referring to his conversation with Xi, Trump said, “He told me he would never do it as long as you’re president… but I’m very patient and China is very patient.”
These statements come as tensions continue over the status of Taiwan, which China considers part of its territory.
Taiwan, however, denies this claim and insists that it is a self-governing and independent island.
Trump’s statements have been widely reflected on social media and the media.
This issue comes as Taiwan prepares to strengthen its defenses against potential threats and the United States continues to provide military and political support to the island.
