Fatal accident involving Iranian pilgrims in Iraq leaves one dead and 14 injured
The Iranian Red Crescent Society’s Emergency Operations Center in Najaf announced this morning (Friday 1 August 2025) that an Iranian pilgrim died and 14 others were injured after a motorcade carrying Iranian pilgrims collided with a passenger on a highway near Al-Kadhimiya, north of Baghdad.
The incident, which occurred on the pilgrims’ route from the city of Samarra to Karbala, left 20 injured.
According to reports, 4 people suffered head, neck, and back trauma, 10 people were treated on an outpatient basis with minor injuries, and 5 other pilgrims were reported to be unharmed.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been announced and the investigation is ongoing.
