NASA image of the day Venus transits in front of the Sun
NASA’s picture of the day shows an unusual solar eclipse, usually the moon is placed between the earth and the sun and covers the sun, causing a solar eclipse, but in 2012, the planet Venus took over this role.
This phenomenon, which is known as the transit of Venus, occurs when Venus is between the Earth and the Sun and passes in front of the Sun’s disc; The transit of Venus is a very rare phenomenon and the next event will happen in 2117.
The image you see is the observatory
The Solar Dynamics Orbiter (SDO) which is in Earth’s orbit has recorded in ultraviolet wavelengths; On the right side of the image, a dark area is seen, which is known as the coronal cavity.
This region shows the regions of the solar corona that are less dense and the solar winds flow from there into space, and a few hours after this event, with the continuation of the orbital movement of Venus, its crescent phase appeared again.
