The Arab League approved Egypt’s plan to rebuild Gaza
On Tuesday 3th of March the Arab League approved the country’s plan for the reconstruction of Gaza by holding an extraordinary meeting in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
This action of the Arab League was in response to the US President Donald Trump’s plan to resettle the Palestinians and rebuild Gaza.
According to the approval of the Arab League, the first phase of this plan will last for approximately six months, and the next two phases will last between four and five years in total.
According to Al Jazeera, the initial six-month transitional period will require the formation of a committee of Palestinians who will operate under the management of the Palestinian Authority and clear the debris from Salah al-Din Road, which is the main north-south highway in the Gaza Strip.
After the reopening of the roads, 200,000 temporary housing units will be built to accommodate 1.2 million people, and around 60,000 damaged buildings will be reconstructed.
