“Japan’s serious concern about China’s military equipment

In his first trip to China as Japan’s new foreign minister, Takeshi Iwaya expressed serious concern about Beijing’s actions to strengthen its military capabilities.

The foreign minister of Japan says that this country is closely monitoring the situation in Taiwan and the recent military developments of the Chinese army.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan’s Iwaya has “expressed serious concern” in the meeting with Wang Yi about China’s military equipment.

According to the story of Tokyo, the senior Japanese diplomat also talked about the disputes over some islands in the East China Sea; The islands that Japan calls “Senkaku” and China calls it “Diaoyu”.

During a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Takeshi Iwaya expressed his serious concerns about the situation in the East China Sea, including around the Senkaku Islands (and the increase in Chinese military activity).

This meeting was held in a situation where Japan, as America’s main ally in the region, is aligned with Washington regarding Taiwan and the war in Ukraine, and this country hosts American soldiers in some Japanese bases.

The Foreign Minister of Japan addressed his Chinese counterpart and demanded the immediate release of Japanese citizens detained in China. He warned that the lack of transparency of anti-espionage laws in China will make the Japanese think more about traveling to China.

According to Tokyo Iwaya and Yi, in this meeting in the last days of 2024, they agreed on the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to Japan as soon as possible next year.

Japan’s Foreign Minister met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang in Beijing and emphasized that his country wants to cooperate with China for a constructive and stable relationship.
