Türkiye’s foreign minister said that the country’s embassy in Damascus will resume its activities from today, Saturday 14th of December.
According to the Russian Sputnik news agency, Hakan Fidan stated that by continuing the negotiations with the important actors of Russia and Iran, we have paved the way to ensure the end of the operation without bloodshed and with minimal human casualties in Syria.
He stated that the previous Syrian regime completely rejected any reconciliation or dialogue with the Syrian armed forces, adding that we look forward to the formation of an inclusive government in Syria that includes all Syrian groups.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey announced in a statement on Thursday that it has decided to temporarily appoint Burhan Kuraoglu, the Turkish ambassador to Mauritania, as the chargé d’affaires of Ankara’s embassy in Damascus.
Turkey closed its embassy in Damascus on March 26, 2012 in protest against what it called the violent crackdown on Syrian protesters by Bashar al-Assad’s regime, and returned its staff and their families to Turkey
