Floods in several Central and Eastern European countries have killed 24 people so far

A huge wave of floods threatens new areas across central Europe after 24 people were killed.

The situation has raised concerns among residents and officials, prompting European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to visit the area.

Heavy rain also caused flooding and the evacuation of about a thousand people in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy.

In Central Europe, the amount of destruction caused by unusually heavy rains, which started a week ago, has decreased.
