Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, expressed concern about Afghan women’s access to their rights and said in a meeting held at the headquarters of this organization: Afghanistan is one of the most prominent examples of gender inequality.
Mr. Guterres said that some countries had progressed in the field of gender equality; But now these developments have been reversed.
He added that currently women’s rights are under attack all over the world, the civil space has become more limited and women’s rights defenders are facing violent threats because of their courage in expressing their requests for justice, of which Afghanistan is the most prominent example.
