WFP warns of famine risk in Gaza as winter approaches

The World Food Program has warned that food aid to Gaza has been cut by a third due to a budget shortfall, leaving around 500,000 Palestinians deprived of vital aid as winter approaches.

According to Reuters, the number of recipients of the organization’s monthly aid has decreased from 1.6 million to 1.1 million, and cash assistance has been cut off for 75,000 Palestinian families.

According to the report, about 1.4 million people in Gaza are facing severe food insecurity, and nearly 200,000 people are in an emergency situation.

The World Food Program needs $450 million in funding to continue providing aid in Gaza and the occupied West Bank for the next six months.
