Palestinian sources announced that Izz al-Din al-Beik, known as “Abu Hamza Ashmawi”, one of the prominent commanders of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip, was martyred this morning in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the al-Nasr area, west of Gaza City.
According to these sources, two other people were also martyred and a number were injured in this attack; reports indicate that Al-Beik had taken over the responsibility of the northern Gaza sector after Ahmed Al-Ghandour, the former commander of the sector, and had previously survived an assassination attempt.
