After about 48 hours of heavy rainfall, large parts of the capital Bangkok have been flooded and a flood emergency has been declared across the city.
In some areas, the water level has reached knee height and streets, houses, and transportation routes have been submerged. Motorbikes and motorcycles are also traveling on some flooded roads.
Thai authorities have urged citizens to stay indoors as much as possible and residents living near water channels to move their belongings to higher floors.
The rains are expected to continue until Sunday, raising concerns that more canals will overflow and floodwaters will spread to other parts of the city. Reports say tens of thousands of people have been affected by flooding in parts of Thailand.
