China expelled Zhang Yuxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Liu Zhenli, a member of the commission and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, from the Communist Party and the army.
The two generals were accused of serious violations of discipline, disloyalty to the party and corruption, and the investigation into them began in January, Xinhua news agency reported.
Zhang Yuxia was a senior and influential official in the Chinese military, and his dismissal follows Xi Jinping’s years-long campaign to fight corruption and strengthen discipline in the Chinese military.
