Russia export 2.5 million tons of diesel to Central Asia and Afghanistan in eight months

Reuters reported that Russia exported a total of 2.5 million tons of diesel to Central Asian countries and Afghanistan in the first eight months of 2026, a slight decrease compared to 2.6 million tons in the same period last year.

Russian diesel exports to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Tajikistan reached more than 370,000 tons in August, more than double the exports in July. Mongolia was the largest importer in the region, receiving about 215,000 tons.

The increase in exports comes as Russia has extended restrictions on diesel exports to many foreign markets until the end of September, but exceptions have been made for some countries, including former Soviet republics and Mongolia, based on intergovernmental agreements.
