The Turkmenstan embassy in Pakistan has announced that the completion of an important part of the TAPI gas pipeline will pave the way for the start of gas transmission to Afghanistan and then Pakistan in 2027.
Turkmen Ambassador to Pakistan Atajan Mulamov said the construction of the Sarhadabad-Herat section of the TAPI pipeline is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
According to him, the implementation of the TAPI project and other regional energy projects can help ensure sustainable energy supply and create new opportunities for Pakistan’s industrial and economic growth.
The TAPI pipeline is about 1,800 kilometers long and is designed to transport up to 33 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Turkmenistan’s Galkinish gas field via Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.
