The national average price of diesel fuel in the United States rose 42 cents last week to $6.27 per gallon, the highest level ever recorded.
According to this report, the majority of the increase in diesel fuel prices has been attributed to the consequences of the war against Iran; in contrast, Donald Trump has attempted to link the increase in energy prices to damage caused to energy facilities during the Russia-Ukraine war.
As the cold season approaches, there is no clear sign of a decrease in diesel prices; an issue that, along with the increase in gasoline prices, has placed greater economic pressure on consumers, especially residents of rural areas of America.
The diesel price hike comes as Republicans face political challenges over how to address rising fuel prices, and the increase could affect parts of the party’s voter base.
