OIC Contact Group on Afghanistan to be held in New York

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced that a meeting of its contact group on Afghanistan will be held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, is leading the high-level delegation of the organization to participate in the General Assembly and meet with heads of delegations of member states, senior officials of the United Nations and other international organizations.

The organization will also hold an annual coordination meeting of foreign ministers of member states at UN headquarters, and several contact groups and specialized committees will also meet on the sidelines of these meetings.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact groups are active on issues including Palestine, Muslim minorities, regional issues, Europe, Jammu and Kashmir, Rohingya Muslims and Afghanistan.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has not yet announced a specific date for the meeting of the Contact Group on Afghanistan.
