The US State Department has approved the possible sale of 48 F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia for $24.3 billion, a deal that requires congressional approval to be finalized.
The New York Times reported that US intelligence agencies are also concerned that China could gain access to sensitive F-35 technologies through military and technological cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
According to this report, the Pentagon has also expressed concern about the possibility of China gaining access to Saudi bases and using Chinese technologies in the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
