The Algerian government revoked the license of Sky News Arabic after severing diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates.
The decision comes as tensions between Algeria and the UAE have increased; Algeria has accused the UAE of increasing provocative and hostile actions and unjustifiable behavior towards it.
Reports indicate that Algeria has simultaneously closed its airspace to Emirati civilian and military aircraft, however, Algerian authorities have not yet announced the official reason for revoking Sky News Arabia’s operating license.
Sky News Arabic is based in Abu Dhabi and is owned by the Emirati media group International Media Investment.
