Diplomatic sources say that the United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday September 15, to review developments around the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Al Jazeera Network reported, citing diplomatic sources, that the meeting is being held in the wake of recent developments on the coast of Yemen and the situation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
At the same time, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has warned that continued disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could affect global food production and supply in the second half of this year and until 2027.
According to FAO analysis, the Strait of Hormuz crisis could increase food prices and exacerbate hunger in countries and regions that have already faced long-term or severe food crises.
